The human body is made up of more than 1 kg of calcium, making the latter the most abundant mineral. 99% of this calcium helps to maintain strong bones and teeth. Our calcium requirements are essentially determined between the efficiency of calcium absorption (dependent on other nutrients such as vitamins D3 and K2) and its rate of excretion (via the intestinal tract, kidneys and loss of hair and nails). An inadequate intake increases the risk of fractures and osteoporosis.

Calcium intake is necessary to maintain normal bones, particularly during certain periods when dietary intake is no longer sufficient: growth (skeletal growth), menopause (due to hormonal changes) and in seniors. Strong, healthy bones do not break easily!

Vitamins D3 and K2 for optimal binding of calcium to bones

It is vital to combine calcium with vitamin D3 because the latter improves the absorption of calcium in the intestine and helps it to bind to bones. By promoting the secretion of osteocalcin, a hormone present in bone cells and teeth, and essential for bone formation, vitamin K2 also intensifies the binding of calcium for greater efficiency. Furthermore, the vitamin K2 used in Calcium – D3 – K2 is microencapsulated for better absorption and use by the body. 3 tablets provide 100% of NRV* in vitamin D3 (obtained from lanolin) and 50% of NRV* in vitamin K2.

Microencapsulated vitamin K2

Vitamin K2 is an essential, liposoluble vitamin (it is dissolved in lipids). This vitamin is fragile and can therefore be easily broken down in the environment, particularly in the presence of calcium. This is why we decided to use the most bioavailable (most easily absorbed by the body), microencapsulated vitamin K2. It is then protected and perfectly absorbed by the body, guaranteeing its effectiveness and a daily intake of 50% of the Nutritional Reference Values.

What is bone capital?

Bone capital is the overall amount of healthy bone acquired at the end of growth. It is formed during childhood and adolescence, and stabilises during adulthood before gradually diminishing. The bones comprise a type of mesh containing ossein and osteoblasts (bone cells). The term, “loss of bone mass” refers to the loss of strength of this mesh. This phenomenon is largely influenced by natural factors, some of which are inevitable such as age or menopause as well as a sedentary lifestyle and diet, etc. The risk of osteoporosis and fractures then increases.
